About the Project
The main goal of this project is to introduce the countries, nationalities and lifestyles of people in Central Asia to those who are not familiar with them. Central Asia which nowadays consists of five countries; Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, and finally Uzbekistan has long, fascinating unique history, and its own stories to be told. However, Afghanistan that is within South Asia and the province of Xinjiang, China, also known as East Turkestan historically considered to be part of the Greater Central Asia. These countries which also colloquially referred to as "the stans" have always had debatable border issues. Although they do have many things in common, and historically, most of the time, were almost one land, nowadays each of them is an independent country, except East Turkestan of course.
Nowadays, diverse ethnicity live in the Greater Central Asia, and all of them have their stories that many people never heard about. This project is more like a storytelling, and it is a medium to share with you both historical and modern day stories of diverse groups of people, their shared values, lifestyles and customs.
